Price the journey
you actually want.
Pinnacle safaris are quoted for your dates and party. We have not published a generic dollar range because a meaningful price needs a defined itinerary and accommodation basis. Tell us your comfortable total budget, whether it includes international flights, and where you would rather spend or save.
Start with the seven-day river crossing safari for a proposal including Northern Serengeti - Mara River, or the luxury honeymoon itinerary for a different accommodation level. They are different products and should not be compared on the daily rate alone.
What moves the price?
| Decision | Why it matters | What to ask |
|---|---|---|
| Travel dates | Room rates and availability change through the year and around popular travel periods. | Which dates and rate conditions does this quote cover? |
| Accommodation | Location, room type, board basis and service level can change the budget substantially. | Which named properties and room categories are included? |
| Party size | A private vehicle and guide are shared across the people in your party. | Is the rate based on two, four or another number of travellers? |
| Parks and nights | The route determines driving, park access, accommodation and other operating costs. | How many actual park days and overnight stays are included? |
| Road or flight | A flight changes ticket costs, luggage allowances, transfers and sometimes the whole route. | Are airstrip transfers and baggage charges accounted for? |
| Optional activities | Balloon flights, walks and some cultural experiences are separate arrangements. | What is optional, and what is already included? |
Compare accommodation
with clear expectations.
Comfortable mid-range
Prioritise a sensible location, dependable meals and the room facilities that matter to you. Confirm whether your stay is in a lodge or a tented camp and what the room includes.
Luxury
Spend more where the property's setting, service and facilities improve your experience. An expensive room far from your intended wildlife area can be the wrong choice.
A mixed approach
Combine simpler nights during transfers with a special camp where you will spend more time. We can identify where a change in spend has the clearest benefit.
Private means your party
Check the safari vehicle arrangement separately from the hotel category. A luxury lodge booking does not automatically tell you whether every activity is private.
Keep the extras visible.
- International airfare, visas and appropriate insurance.
- Any prescribed inbound insurance not included in the quote. Check official NIC and Zanzibar insurance guidance.
- Tips, premium drinks, laundry and personal purchases.
- Domestic flights and excess baggage if outside the quote.
- Optional ballooning, guided walks and cultural visits.
- Single-room arrangements, extra hotel nights or changes after confirmation.
- On Zanzibar, the chosen meal plan and any separately payable visitor charges.
Your written proposal should state what applies to your trip. Ask us about unclear items before confirming; taxes and required operating charges should be clearly identified rather than left as a surprise.
Get a quote you can
make a decision with.
Send your dates or travel month, party size, children's ages where relevant, preferred number of days and a budget range. Tell us whether flights are part of that budget and which experiences matter most. We will propose a practical route and explain the accommodation choices.
Can a private safari suit a smaller budget?
We can review duration, accommodation, travel dates and the route. Share the budget first so we can tell you which trade-offs are realistic.
Is fewer days always better value?
No. Compressing distant parks can create long transfers and little time in the places you came to see. A shorter trip may work better with fewer destinations.
Can I add Zanzibar later?
Yes, subject to availability and flight arrangements. Planning both together earlier usually makes it easier to coordinate the route, luggage and departure airport.
Safari tipping
with clear expectations.
Tips are customary and appreciated, but voluntary. These are Pinnacle’s suggested planning ranges for good service, not compulsory fees. Tips are additional to your package price unless your written quote expressly includes them, and never replace wages or determine the care you receive.
| Role | Suggested amount | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Private safari driver-guide | US$20–30 | Per vehicle, per safari day, shared by your party |
| Dedicated camping-safari cook | US$10–15 | Per cook, per safari day, shared by your party |
| Lodge or camp staff | US$5–10 | Per guest, per night, through the shared staff tip box |
Example: a four-person party choosing US$25 per vehicle per day for a seven-day safari would give its driver-guide US$175 in total, or US$43.75 per guest. Lodge tips are budgeted separately for the nights actually stayed.
Give your driver-guide and dedicated cook their tips directly at the end of their service. Use each lodge’s shared staff tip box and check whether a gratuity is already included. Separate walking guides, rangers and activity teams have their own arrangements; ask before budgeting for them.
Cash in Tanzanian shillings or accepted US-dollar notes is practical; agree the currency and conversion beforehand. Prepare smaller denominations. EUR and GBP amounts depend on the exchange rate, so agree any equivalent rather than assuming the website’s package conversion applies to tips.
