What matters most
on your safari?

Begin with the experience you want, then compare the route, wildlife time and transport. Each starting itinerary has a different pace and purpose; we tailor the final proposal to you.

My first Tanzania safari

Give Serengeti two full days

Start with five days: Tarangire, an early Ngorongoro visit and three central Serengeti nights. Compare four days if time is tighter; both include substantial road transfers.

I have only three days

Fly in, rather than rush every road

The three-day Serengeti and Ngorongoro programme includes a proposed inbound bush flight. It is a compact introduction, not three full wildlife days.

Choose the chapter for your dates

Discuss Ndutu calving around January–March or the northern migration around July–October. Camp region and full viewing days matter; births and river crossings are never promised.

Four days or five?

Both visit Tarangire, take an early Ngorongoro Crater drive on Day 2 and continue to central Serengeti that night. Four days gives you one full Serengeti day; five gives you two.

Choose the chapter of the migration

One migration.
Two different journeys.

The herd follows rain and fresh grazing. Choose a region and a route for your dates, with time for the wildlife to set the pace.

Tarangire, Ngorongoro and two nights at Ndutu Heritage Camp, with a full Ndutu day and a final overnight in Arusha. Add Central Serengeti days before the return if you want a longer journey.

Northern Serengeti - Mara River

The northern migration landscape needs its own dates and route. Choose six days focused on Serengeti, or seven days with Tarangire and the crater. Each includes two northern nights; crossings remain unpredictable.

The wild does not run on your schedule

Stay with the moment.
Forget the checklist.

A private vehicle gives you the one luxury that matters most in the bush: choice. Stop longer. Leave earlier. Follow the guide’s instinct.

We balance wildlife ambition with realistic drive times, exceptional guiding and camps that make the hours between game drives part of the experience.

Read the guests.

A great guide knows where to look. An exceptional guide also knows when to explain, when to wait and when to let the silence do the work.

Four remarkable stays.
One safari designed for two.

This is not a race between famous lodges. It is a measured progression from Tarangire’s baobabs to the crater highlands, central Serengeti and the private plains of Grumeti—with enough time left for the reason you came together.

The right safari starts with timing

Tell us when you travel. We will tell you where the wild is moving.

Then we will design the route around your interests, comfort and appetite for the uncommon.

Budget before you travel

Safari tipping
with clear expectations.

Tips are customary and appreciated, but voluntary. These are Pinnacle’s suggested planning ranges for good service, not compulsory fees. Tips are additional to your package price unless your written quote expressly includes them, and never replace wages or determine the care you receive.

Safari rates use different units: check the final column before multiplying.
RoleSuggested amountBasis
Private safari driver-guideUS$20–30Per vehicle, per safari day, shared by your party
Dedicated camping-safari cookUS$10–15Per cook, per safari day, shared by your party
Lodge or camp staffUS$5–10Per guest, per night, through the shared staff tip box

Example: a four-person party choosing US$25 per vehicle per day for a seven-day safari would give its driver-guide US$175 in total, or US$43.75 per guest. Lodge tips are budgeted separately for the nights actually stayed.

Give your driver-guide and dedicated cook their tips directly at the end of their service. Use each lodge’s shared staff tip box and check whether a gratuity is already included. Separate walking guides, rangers and activity teams have their own arrangements; ask before budgeting for them.

Cash in Tanzanian shillings or accepted US-dollar notes is practical; agree the currency and conversion beforehand. Prepare smaller denominations. EUR and GBP amounts depend on the exchange rate, so agree any equivalent rather than assuming the website’s package conversion applies to tips.
