Basic is our original package category. Premium adds the confirmed comfort features described below. Both contribute to Pinnacle’s crew welfare and savings programme: 1% from a completed Basic expedition and 7% from a completed Premium expedition. All rates are starting prices per person; mountain days include descent, while hotel nights are additional itinerary time.

2026–2028 · Starting prices per person. Durations are mountain days. Premium also includes two hotel nights in total, one before and one after the trek.

What changes with Premium?

Comfort around the climb.
Safety is shared.

Both Basic and Premium: all Pinnacle mountain guides assigned to the expedition are Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certified. Every expedition carries emergency oxygen, pulse oximeters and mountain first-aid kits. This equipment supports assessment and emergency response; it does not remove altitude risk or replace descent and professional medical care.

Basic

A route-specific climb at the original advertised rates. The proposal confirms mountain guiding, crew, meals, park arrangements, accommodation and transfers. Professional judgement, fair pay and the shared safety standard remain part of every climb.

Crew contribution: 1% of the completed, fully paid package price, shared equally among every registered crew member on the final expedition roster.

Premium

  • The same WFR-certified guide and emergency-equipment standard as Basic.
  • Improved mountain comfort, including a sofa lounge and portable toilet where the route permits.
  • Hot-shower service subject to water, weather and park conditions.
  • Two nights total in a 4–5-star hotel: one before and one after the trek.
  • 7% of the completed, fully paid package price shared equally among every registered crew member on the final expedition roster.
Review the complete Premium specification

Marangu uses shared mountain huts. We confirm its route-appropriate lounge, toilet and shower arrangements in the proposal; a Premium booking does not change the park’s accommodation rules.

What changes the quote

Six things to compare.

Duration and route

More mountain days mean additional operating days, permits, food and crew support. A different trailhead or descent can also change logistics.

Party size and climb format

A private solo climb and a shared departure distribute costs differently. Ask which arrangement your starting price covers.

Basic or Premium service

A lounge, shower setup and upgraded sleep system add equipment and camp work. Professional guiding and safety decisions belong in every climb.

Hotels and airport transfers

Compare the number and category of hotel nights, board basis, pickup airport and transport included around the trek.

Equipment you already have

Personal clothing, boots and sleeping equipment are not interchangeable with communal camp equipment. Request a separate rental list if needed.

Dates and confirmed services

Availability and the final arrangement matter. We confirm the price and the services together before you make a booking decision.

Budget beyond
the headline price.

  • International flights and visa costs.
  • Personal clothing, boots and any separately quoted equipment rental.
  • Insurance appropriate for trekking, the maximum altitude and evacuation.
  • Any required inbound travel insurance unless included in your quote. Use the official entry insurance portals.
  • Voluntary crew tips and personal spending.
  • Additional accommodation, drinks, laundry or activities outside your quote.
  • A contingency for itinerary changes or extra nights.

Ask us to separate these items so you can compare the whole holiday. Tipping is voluntary recognition of the team’s work; it does not replace wages. Read our crew-care standard.

What to send us
for an accurate proposal.

Share your intended travel month, preferred route, number of climbers, relevant trekking experience and preferred comfort level. Include arrival and departure details if booked. We will confirm the duration, accommodation, equipment and transfer arrangements in writing.

Is the starting price a confirmed booking price?

No. It is a planning starting point. Your written proposal confirms the total for your dates and party, the services included and the payment and cancellation conditions.

Can I add premium services to Lemosho?

Yes. Eight-day Lemosho is Basic from US$2,420 per person or Premium from US$3,942 per person. Your proposal confirms the selected category and its inclusions.

What is the Northern Circuit crater-camping price?

The ten-day Northern Circuit with crater camping is Basic from US$3,500 per person or Premium from US$5,188 per person. Both require a high-altitude suitability review.

Emergency planning

Helicopter evacuation
on request through Pinnacle.

Pinnacle can help request helicopter evacuation through an external aviation provider when needed. This is a separately charged service: helicopter flights, medical care and onward transfers are not included in Basic or Premium package prices unless your written quote expressly says otherwise.

Availability is subject to the provider’s operational approval, aircraft availability, weather, landing access and aircraft limitations. A request does not guarantee a flight or a response time. Your guides will follow the available evacuation plan; urgent descent and ground evacuation must not be delayed while waiting for an aircraft.

Before travel, confirm with your insurer that your policy covers the booked activity, your maximum altitude—including Uhuru Peak at 5,895 metres where applicable—helicopter search and rescue, medical evacuation and treatment. Check exclusions, payment authorisation and any excess. Share your policy and emergency-assistance details with Pinnacle. Costs not accepted by the insurer remain payable by the guest.

Ask Pinnacle about evacuation arrangements and extra charges

Budget before you travel

Mountain crew tipping
with clear expectations.

Tips are customary and appreciated, but voluntary. These are Pinnacle’s suggested planning ranges for good service, not compulsory fees. Tips are additional to your package price unless your written quote expressly includes them, and never replace wages or determine the care you receive.

Mountain rates are the whole group’s tip to each crew member—not a charge to every climber.
RoleSuggested amountBasis
Lead guideUS$20–25Per guide, per mountain day
Assistant guideUS$15–20Per guide, per mountain day
CookUS$15–20Per cook, per mountain day
PorterUS$8–10Per porter, per mountain day
Specialist porterUS$10–15Per person, per day performing the extra role

Calculate each role’s daily rate × number of people in that role × days worked, then add the amounts and divide the group total among the climbers. Specialist roles can include summit assistance, toilet care or camp service; use the specialist rate instead of adding a second full porter tip for the same day.

Example: two climbers on a seven-day trek with one lead guide at US$25/day, one assistant at US$20/day, one cook at US$20/day and eight porters at US$10/day would budget US$1,015 for the whole group, or US$507.50 each. This illustrates the calculation, not a promised crew size. Solo climbs and larger Premium teams can cost more per guest; Meru and Lengai use their own confirmed rosters and days.

Pinnacle will confirm the crew roster and a suggested tip breakdown before departure. At the end of the trek, give labelled envelopes directly to each crew member where practical. If tips are pooled for distribution, agree and record the total and each allocation with the crew present. No management deductions should be taken from tips.

Pinnacle’s company-funded 1% Basic and 7% Premium Kilimanjaro crew welfare contributions are separate from guest tips. They are not deducted from tips and do not replace them. Read the crew programme.

Cash in Tanzanian shillings or accepted US-dollar notes is practical; agree the currency and conversion beforehand. Prepare smaller denominations. EUR and GBP amounts depend on the exchange rate, so agree any equivalent rather than assuming the website’s package conversion applies to tips.
